About Pocket Shark Field Guide

Who publishes Pocket Shark, what the site is for, and how the shark guide is being built.

Pocket Shark Field Guide is an independent shark reference project created by Michael Norman. The site and app are built around a simple use case: help people identify sharks, compare related species, and keep a reliable field guide on hand without requiring an account or a subscription.

The public site is being narrowed toward a smaller set of stronger editorial pages. That means incomplete, weak, or overly templated entries are being held back from indexing until they can stand on their own as useful references.

What the app is, and what it is not

The app is a one-time paid iPhone field guide with offline species browsing, comparison tools, favorites, and a few lightweight study features. It is not a live sightings platform, a social feed, or a real-time conservation tracker.
